Wine doesn't hold exclusive rights to "vintage"

It's a sad fact that everything ages, but some things age better than others. We have all seen the word "vintage" on a fine (and usually expensive!) bottle of wine or champagne, but the word can apply to items of furniture, fashion all manner of goods. As long as an item is between 50 -100 years old it is invariably classed as "vintage". That means items created during the Second World War, or in the year England won The World Cup (1966), through the Summer of Love and into the era of platform shoes and bell bottom flares are all considered to be vintage. And rather unfortunately it also means that 2/3rds of the staff here at The Curious Cow are also now vintage (how did that happen?).

So bear it in mind next time you are shopping that this years vintage will soon be the next antique!
